When I decided to start my own practice about 35 years ago, the only thing I had was ambition. That ambition took me to a successful practice as a designer and developer. But in this long journey, I have realized that it would have taken me only 20 years to do what I did in 35, if I had learnt powerful management skills at the beginning.

Many of you, young architects and designers, may be are at the same stage where I was in 1974. I had only ambition and courage. But you also have access to technology and information. But that is no good news for you! More the technologies are expanding, more competition is rising. That means, you don’t even have 15 years to do what I did. This is the generation of tomorrow. Everything happens in a click!

Hard working people are not the one to win the race. It’s the smart working people’s age! So, what do you do when your client wants Speed and Quality with Economy? Being only an architect is not enough now. This is the world of “Architectural Managers”. You should be as good a manager as you should be a designer.

My blog here is an effort to draw guidelines for young architects and designers who wish to begin their own practice. These guidelines have been developed to fill the gap between the theory and practice; ambitions and opportunities.

I sincerely hope that you take the full advantage of these blogs here and garnish management skills in broader sense on your design abilities. Say ‘yes 2 Architectural Management’ and take a step to win the opportunities in architectural profession.
