How to communicate with Office Employees?

No two people think alike. Your office employees are working with you for different purposes. But for an efficient team work, they too need to feel connected with your company objectives and goals. Your job is to unite all staff members and motivate them to work for the common goals of the organisation which in return minimizes conflicts, anger and boosts confidence among the team members.

Following are some tips to remember while effectively  communicating with the your employees:

DO’s

1. The daily work allotment to the employees shall be specific and scheduled as per priorities of work.

2. Office is their second home; they spend their most conscious time here. Allow them to socialize with colleagues occasionally.

3. Treat them like human beings, and not paid slaves. Be sensitive to their changing needs. Care about them.

4. Assign the right job to the right person for better productivity. All rounder are very few.

5. Provide scope for them to grow. Give them challenging tasks and from time to time upgrade their knowledge with required training.

6. Encourage them to give their best and praise them when they do so.

7. Always ask likes and dislikes about the organization and take their feedback.

8. Approach them with problem solving skills in cases of poor performance issues. Don't get angry for small mistakes.

9. Office environment should be healthy, trustworthy. It shall be free from gossiping and politics. Make it your policy from the beginning.

10. Conflict, disputes and misunderstanding etc. are part of the work place, Resolve them tactfully. It’s a test  of your maturity.

DONT's

1. Don‘t expect them to take initiatives at work for the first day of their job.

2. They are here working under your guidance. Thus, give required time to guide them. 3. Don’t run behind your employees to get the work done, but also control them enough to get the productivity.

4. Don’t take out your anger, dissatisfaction in front of others. This is the most demoralizing behavior.

5. Don’t try to get the work of a horse from a donkey or vice versa.

6. Don’t make your organization a plateau where no one can reach on top or grow.

7. Don’t ignore the power of youth, they may be immature, but they are the fountains of ideas.

8. Don’t scare the new employee from the bosses, systems or the work culture.

9. Don’t create a firewall between seniors and juniors. Juniors shall be able to freely approach the seniors in case of difficulties.

10. Don’t get stressed, if romantic relationships among the colleagues affect the productivity of the office.  Relationships are natural as they are spending 40 to 50 hours together per week. Talk to them. Resolve the issues by making office objectives and productivity requirements clear to them.

These tips may sound easy to  implement? But I assure you that this is the toughest challenge for any  HR manager.
